When you think of outsourcing what country is the first to enter your mind? India of course they have been the top dog of IT outsourcing specifically for a long time now. Well the declining global economies has exposed a weakness in outsourcing services to India. With the decline of the dollar and rising cost of running a business alternative markets are starting to gain traction against India.
Outsourcing IT services to China is starting to get some attention by some big name companies looking to find wiggle room in their outsourcing budget. When it comes to companies in the western hemisphere though it’s the outsourcing companies in Latin America that are getting a lot of attention and business. IT outsourcing is becoming a booming industry for Latin America as companies are thriving in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina to name a few.
One of the main reasons that outsourcing companies in Latin America are getting so much business and attention is the fact that for businesses in the western hemishpere working with a company in Latin America is in the same time zone for a lot of companies. Being in the same time zone is a big consideration when it comes to working with and IT department. The cost per IT worker in India in comparison to Latin America is still favorable to India. The window of opportunity is shrinking though with each passing day as the strength of the dollar continues to fall.
Companies are scrambling to find alternative ways to service their IT departments and India is no longer the only game in town. Outsourcing is evolving at a rapid pace and it’s evolution is that of going global as other countries around the world are pushing for a piece of the outsourcing pie that India has had all to themselves for a long time now.

Results from the 2008 Black Book of Outsourcing survey of top IT company executives reflect the growth of the Central and Eastern European markets compared to their Asian counterparts. The Black Book research as well as a Forrester Research study indicate that IT companies are redirecting their outsource spending toward providers that can come up with more than just simple cheap labor.

Due to intensity of BPO and ITO activities in India, companies have to compete for qualified personnel and the wages and salaries grow. Therefore they are looking for alternative outsourcing destinations, choosing China, Malaysia, CEE region or Central and South America.
