Bundling IT With BPO

Hello once again web folk I pray that all is going well for you in your part of the web today. Bringing more value to the outsourcing business is the name of the game and that looks to be the driving force as to why IBM recently changed IBM Daksh to IBM Global Process Services. It’s not enough for a business processing outsourcing (BPO) unit to just offer the business end of things anymore. It’s a whole new world out there when it comes to outsourcing and there are plenty of countries around the world that are looking to compete if not replace India as the country to go to for those services.

Places like the Phillipines, South America and China have become major players in the BPO business. Trying to stay ahead of the curve the IBM GPS unit is looking to blur the lines between BPO and IT services by combining them into one service. Companies are looking to consolidate their resources even further and streamline their operations so offering contracts that cover all aspects of outsourcing from business to IT is going to be a huge step forward in the industry. That is just my humble opinion on the matter web folk, here is a story that goes into more detail on why India is pushing BPO and IT deals going forward as they try to stay ahead of the market.

It’s interesting to note that while the market is for outsourcing is evolving that there is another new bill being introduced in the House of the US government called the Fighting for American Jobs Act of 2011. the basics of this bill is that any US company that lays off American workers and go ahead with outsourcing those jobs to another country will not be eligible for any federal funding from the government. There is so much push and pull going on from all sides it’s getting harder and harder to figure out what is the best option not only for your business but for your workers as well. Here is a link to the story about the cutting federal funding for companies that outsource jobs. It’s just a proposed bill at this point and it may just fall off to the waste side at this point with the government in such turm oil about it’s own budget and staying open. So who knows at this point I just felt it was worth bringing up for the purposes of this post becuase there is so much going on when it comes to outsourcing industry as whole right now.

So let me know what you think web folk about the state of change that is going on for the outsourcing world right now. Do you think a bill like that will stop companies from moving jobs over seas? Is the future of this industry really going to be a blended one where IT and BPO are pitched together? Leave you interesting responses in the comments section down below.

Kudos to you peruser ;-)
